Ultrasound Program
A Higher Purpose: Changing Hearts, Saving Lives
The core mission of the Ultrasound Program is simple yet profound: to save innocent lives by helping women choose life. By giving mothers facing unplanned pregnancies the opportunity to view the undeniable humanity of their unborn children via ultrasound, an overwhelming majority choose to carry their babies to term.
⚙️ How the Funding Mechanism Works
This program utilizes a highly successful 50/50 matching grant model between local jurisdictions and the Supreme Council’s Culture of Life Fund.
Step 1: Pregnancy Center Assessment & Approval
The local council identifies a qualified pro-life pregnancy help center that meets medical staffing criteria. The center must be officially vetted and approved for funding by both the local diocese and the Supreme Council.
Step 2: Access Preferred Manufacturer Pricing
Once approved, the Supreme Council provides the sponsoring council with a list of preferred ultrasound machines available at deep discounts through exclusive commercial pricing agreements.
Step 3: Raise the Local 50% Share
The local council, assembly, and/or state council work together to raise exactly 50% of the discounted purchase price of the approved ultrasound machine.
Step 4: Apply for the Supreme Match
Upon hitting the 50% fundraising milestone, the council submits the official application to the Supreme Council. The Supreme Council's Culture of Life Fund will then cut a check for the remaining 50% of the cost to complete the purchase.
🚐 The Mobile Medical Unit Exception
To reach mothers who cannot easily travel to a brick-and-mortar clinic, councils can also support mobile outreach operations.
📝 100% Ultrasound Match Rule
If a local council successfully raises 100% of the funding necessary to purchase a vehicle outfitted as a mobile medical unit for an approved pregnancy center, the Supreme Council will fully fund 100% of the cost of the ultrasound machine to be permanently installed inside that mobile unit.
📊 Administrative Reminder
Fulfilling this initiative satisfies a major program requirement under the Life category. Upon completing an ultrasound machine placement, ensure your council documents the achievement by submitting the online Fraternal Programs Report Form (#10784) .
