March for Life Program

Featured Supreme Program

Standing publicly for the unborn, the vulnerable, and the elderly is a core duty of our fraternity. By participating in or organizing a March for Life, councils provide a powerful, visible witness to the Gospel of Life in the public square.

🏆 Earning Double Credit for the Columbian Award

Because the March for Life is a Supreme Featured Program, fulfilling its specific requirements earns your council two program credits toward the Life category on the Columbian Award Application (#SP-7). To ensure your council successfully qualifies for the double credit, you must meet the following Supreme guidelines:

  • Organize a Delegation: Your council must successfully coordinate a minimum of 25 participants to attend a national, state, or regional March for Life or pro-life rally.

  • Provide Transportation: Chartering a passenger bus or organizing a formal parish carpool to transport participants counts toward this goal.

  • Take Ownership: Alternatively, your council can achieve this credit by independently planning, organizing, and hosting a localized March for Life or Pro-Life Chain within your own parish or community boundaries.

  • Report the Event: Immediately following the event, the council must document the details and attendance numbers by submitting the online Fraternal Programs Report Form (#10784).

📍 How Your Council Can Get Involved

If your council does not already have an established tradition of supporting a March, getting started is simple:

1. Connect with Your Diocese: Reach out to your local Diocesan Pro-Life Office. They routinely coordinate large bus trips to state capitols or national marches and can provide instant guidance on how your council can purchase seats or sponsor youth participants.

2. Order "Choose Life" Signs: Work with your Financial Secretary to log into Supplies Online via Officers Online to order official Knights of Columbus Choose Life Signs (#9341) for your marchers to carry. To secure these "Choose Life" signs and other program materials for your local council, you should reach out directly to the Supreme Council’s Faith in Action Department: Phone: Call 203-752-4403 Email: Send inquiries to william.obrien@kofc.org.

3. Coordinate a Parish Hype Campaign: Place notices in your parish bulletin, make brief pulpit announcements after Mass, and wear Knights-branded apparel on the day of the event to promote a unified, visible presence.
