Our Lady of Guadalupe Silver Rose Run
"One Life, One Rose"
The Our Lady of Guadalupe Silver Rose Run stands as a profound, 62-year-old Knights of Columbus tradition. It weaves together international fraternity, deep Marian devotion, and a public witness to the sanctity of all human life.
The History of the Pilgrimage
The journey began in 1960 when Columbian Squires across Mexico, Canada, and the United States sought a unique way to honor Our Lady of Guadalupe. They chose to carry a natural rose across North America, running it from Canada all the way to the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe in Monterrey, Mexico.
In 2001, during the 119th Supreme Council Meeting in Toronto, Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson officially re-centered the pilgrimage around the Culture of Life. He expanded the initiative into the global "Our Lady of Guadalupe – One Life, One Rose Program," calling for its expansion into every single North American jurisdiction.
The Journey Today
Today, the pilgrimage has expanded to include thirteen distinct Silver Roses traveling simultaneously through western, central, and eastern corridors of the continent.
-
A Continuous Chain: Knights hand off these beautifully crafted silver roses from destination to destination, culminating in a simultaneous arrival at the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe on her feast day in December.
-
Centers of Prayer: Every single stop along the rose's route serves as an opportunity for local communities to gather for prayer, spiritual renewal, and the Rosary.
-
Trilingual Resources: Official booklets containing recommended prayers, scripture readings, and a dedicated litany accompany the Silver Rose in English, French, and Spanish to accommodate all parishes.
